Last night I downloaded the Apple II emulator. I then moved one rom (Stellar 7 game) into the Apple2 folder. I restarted emulation stations and I did not see a selection for Apple 2. How do I figure out what I could have done wrong?

Is the game's file extension .dsk? If so, do you have 'Parse Gamelists Only' enabled in Emulation Station?

Yes, but when I downloaded the rom it was zipped. I copied the zip file over to the apple2 folder. Do I need to unzip the file?

A list of viable extensions is always listed on the system pages, such as the one for Apple II that Herb linked above. Sometimes zip is a viable option and will be listed alongside the others.

Problem solved! I had to unzip the zip folder and then just move the rom over. Once I did that it work. However, for a lot of the emulators I have been working like the NES, you don't have to unzip them first. I noticed I had to the same for the N64 games as well. Thank you for your help.

@kasimar1 you will find systems that requires a lot of resources or computer systems that use disks due to multiple disks wont use zips. I have everything except mame and fba unzipped. (Since they cant be) I dont want that to ever be a slowdown for me. Especially when using a pi zero.

I keep everything zipped that has the option. Of course, I'm using a Pi3 and the time it takes to unzip a ROM is less than a full second.

@mediamogul i unzipped my stuff many many years ago. Not every system i have modded throughout the years have been as good as even a pi 3.

I totally get that. I'm still using the same Goodsets that I've been using for over ten years. If aint broke, don't break it.

Well as an engineer i dont exactly follow that rule. It's more like "if it ain't broke, break it. And then figure out how to make it better."
