Is it possible to add a shutdown image on retropie?
Stills better option in terms of user-friendly than blinky white underscore, yet I don't know if is even possible or how to do it.

Yes, we need another collection splash screens, "game over" style!

(no idea how to do it though, or how long it should take)

If tetris has thought me anything, it's that errors pile up and that accomplishments dissappear.

Well it seems possible using the package plymouth, which is available on Debian Repository:
          https://packages.debian.org/jessie/misc/plymouth

The ubuntu made a wiki for that package to show how it works: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Plymouth

          I guess I will give a try ;)

If you could figure out Plymouth that would be cool. I've tried it on the pi and couldn't get it to work, maybe you'll have better luck than me.

Here are my notes and files for reference:

            https://github.com/HerbFargus/Raspberry-Pi-Scripts/wiki/Plymouth

Note it was on wheezy and the pango fixes aren't needed on jessie and the fbtft I think was for a spi screen so that's likely not needed as well, also not sure if the initramfs image is necessary either ha ha

There were some other weird things like the device tree and whatnot that I don't quite understand but let me know if you want to try it out and maybe we can come to a solution together. (I'm mostly interested in a boot splash but should be easy enough make it a shutdown splash)

I'm having troubles as well, it seems the ubuntu link doesnt have all the info how to set it up the package since it comes already installed with their distro...

I'm trying research a bit more and i find it out this is the official webpage:
              https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Plymouth/

The archwiki seems to have extra infos how to set it up:
              https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Plymouth

Currently I am trying to follow this guide to set it up the package to see if i get any success xD
