weird joystick calibration

I have a after glow PS3 usb controller that shows up on retro pie as "generic xbox controller". Ive been having issues with just one axis. When doing a jstest, the axes switches positive then negative values all the way up until i reach the end. The center is 0. Every other axis is either positive or negative. I have 3 of these controllers and it happens on all 3. Any ideas?

its doing the same in windows. May just be the controller. but it says its PC compatible. Im going to try and see if there is a way to recalibrate it from the controller.

It was the joystick. I just realized I've only been testing with one controller with many receivers. Problem solved
