Controller not working on PSX games except from two

Hi so i'm having this odd issue where when I try and play any PSX game the controller wont respond except from on two games which are Crash Team Racing and Tony hawks pro skater.
The controller works fine on any other emulator works fine in all the menus and also lets me into the retroarch settings but if I try any other PSX game their is no response.
When I first had it all set up it worked on everything but I've obviously changed something but I don't know what, I've tried tweaking the settings and following some guide to reset the control settings with no luck any help would be appreciated.

What those 2 games have in common is that they are later titles that supported the Dual Shock / Dual Analog controllers. Is it possible that you have turned Analog support on and your other games don't support it? The original Dual Shock / Dual Analog controllers had a button on the front to enable/disable this mode, but it is done from the options menu in emulators (as you don't have a physical button for it).

@simonster Yeah I think it is something to do with this I've tried changing it back (that's If I'm doing it right) and still no luck

i assume you have a valid psx bios?

@dankcushions Yeah, just tried that still no luck. I noticed every time I boot a game up I get "configuration override loaded" in the bottom left not sure if that is normal is their a way I can reset all the retroarch settings for pcsx back to default and delete any other configs I may have saved

no it's not normal - you must have set up a core or game override at some point. you should have a look in
/home/pi/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/PCSX-ReARMed/- any .cfg files in there should probably be deleted. -
@dankcushions had a few files in their deleted them all tried again settings has reset but still controller won't work, I changed the pad type again to standard as well :(

but these are analog games - it needs to be pad type analog.

no i don't think so. that's your controller configurations. you need those. you could rebind your PS4 controller via emulationstation to double check - i forget what the option is called. configure inputs or something like that.

Just to let you know I've sorted it by replacing the retroarch-core-options.cfg file from another SD card I have with the PSX emulator on it where it worked and that resolved the issue.

@rockysen just an fyi, there has been several issues with this before, if you switch to analog and standard, change all 8 controllers in the core options. There has been several versions of the emulator that has been released with this issue, so honestly its just best to stay in the habit of changing all 8 since you will never know which update will mess that up.

@rockysen I know this forum is pretty old and has already been resolved but I had this same problem and if anyone stumbles upon it this what fixed it for me start by changing in the options of the quick menu (select + triangle) in game and instead of setting it to analog set it to dualshock some games only will play with this on:)

I am having an issue where i cant even navigate the in game config menu because the d-pad wont work. How do I get around that?
