Roms not showing up

I updated to retropie 4.2 from an older version. After the update the Mastersystem games are doing something weird. If I use a ".sms" file it works fine, but if its a ".md" file the games no longer appear. (which 99% of the games are .md)
Any help would be appreciated -
@Glidderbuns open up your es_systems.cfg file and add .md .MD to the file type under sega master system.
