Random Game Selector on Pi Zero W
-
I've searched for days and haven't been able to find a solution. My friend has a Pi 3 running Retropie V4.2 that he built after me and while testing I noticed that his setup has a random game select or Surprise Me! feature. I would love that being incredibly indecisive I need this. I'm running Retropie V 4.2 on a Raspberry Pi Zero W. I can't seem to find any setting that give me this option. I did read that it was part of the Kids Friendly Emulation Station which I did install but still don't have this feature. Can you please offer me some Help? On a side note I just upgraded my sd card from a 16GB to 32 GB and was also wondering if since i cloned the sd card I can still expand the filesystem the same way I did the first time or if it would damage the information I have on there. Thanks for any input!

I believe this feature is already available in the current binary installation of Emulation Station. Update your RetroPie-Setup script and then navigate to 'Core Packages' and select 'Update from Binary' under the 'Emulation Station' menu. After that, restart and you should be able to press the 'x' button to be taken to a random game, as well as have access to the 'Surprise Me' menu after pressing 'select'. If not, re-enter the RetroPie-Setup and navigate back to the 'Emulation Station' menu listing where you would then select 'Install from Source'. Installing from source takes a decent amount of time, so be patient if you should need to use it.

That worked! Took forever to update the script but once it finally finished and I did a reboot there it was. The new emulationstation black loading screen and the random button. Very exciting thank you very much!
