Some Vic-20 (VICE) games on Github

https://github.com/theflyingape/omega-fury/releases/tag/final It's hard to believe that as incredible as the vic-20 version of Omega Race was, it was apparently improved upon.

https://github.com/theflyingape/berzerk-mmx/releases/tag/final A berzerk clone that actually includes the voices!

There are a HUGE number of free and commercial games available from the Vic-20 DENIAL forum, but the proprietor wishes all links to the site to be to the main page. http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/ To find the vic-20 goodies navigate to Forum->Announcement Board. From there, there are threads for new vic-20 releases for each year from 2008 to the present. Many are free.

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

I tried your games in "VICE standalone" and couldn't directly play them.
I think more people will have the same problem if they try.
I made a small animation for the most important settings you have to do.

Regarding the 50 ROMS from Intellivision Lives!, for some reason the games play fine in RetroArch in Windows 10 but none seem to work on my Pi. I'd be surprised if there isn't a solution, but I haven't found it yet.

Edit: The solution is renaming the BIOS files to all lowercase. They are all uppercase in the PC collection.

                Father's Day: https://quantumsheep.itch.io/fathers-day
                Platform: ZX Spectrum
Has 2 versions which are explained in the page's description.
The ROMs are the .tap files inside the downloadable .zip files.

Also includes the source code (the .xml file), which supposedly can be edited and/or compiled to other platforms, as listed in the Lantern engine's site: Amstrad CPC64, Apple IIe, Commodore 64, CP/M, IBM PC/XT, TRS-80 1/3/4, ZX Spectrum and Linux.
But good luck using the engine, as there's hardly anything online about it, leaving a lot to figure out (and I couldn't even make it work natively on Linux).

I can confirm that all ROMS from Intellivision Lives!, as well as those from Intellivision Rocks! and Intellivision Greatest Hits all play fine via jzintv. Not sure about freeintv but I’m assuming there’s a way to get them to work with that core as well.

I tested them with "lr-freeintv" and were working.
                    I extracted them from INTY_LIVES.ISO this with sha1sum :

If you use the same ISO it should work.

@auster I just noticed building the romset of Ghosts 'n Goblins from Capcom Arcade Stadium also generates a second ROM, the Japanese version of the same game.

The ROM is the file called "makaimug.zip", which is created in the same folder as "gng.zip".

According to MAME 2003's dat file, the Japanese name and version of the game is Makai-Mura (Japan Revision G).

I didn't check the other versions of MAME, but it should work fine with MAME 2003.

Data East Retro Classix are a series of arcade games released on Steam. They include games like Bad Dudes, Burger Time, and Joe & Mac. I have only tested two games so far, but both worked as-is. Bad Dudes worked in Final Burn Neo (first one tried) and Gate of Doom worked in MAME 2013 (second one tried since Final Burn Neo failed). Edit: Joe & Mac - Caveman Ninja worked in MAME 2013 as well. Testing has only been done in RetroArch for Windows, however.

For the full list, see here: https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Data East

The .zip roms are the located in \steamapps\common\Retro Classix game name\Retro Classix game name_Data\StreamingAssets.

Now is a good time to get them since it is Steam's summer sale. Though the newly released ones don't have as heavy a discount as the ones that were released a while ago.

On that note, now is a good time to get many of the games mentioned in this discussion if they are on Steam, GoG, or Humble Bundle (all are having their summer sales). Edit: And itch.io too!

@themazingness A quick web search shows it on many gaming news sites:

                                https://www.startpage.com/do/search?query=ultima+gog+delisted

The source is this GOG forum thread:

                                https://www.gog.com/forum/general/ultima_underworld_12_syndicate_plus_and_syndicate_wars_delisting/

Quote: "on publisher's request" – So EA is pulling the games from GOG for yet unknown reasons (some of said news sites mention that EA didn't answer them to this question).

edit: Just bought Syndicate Plus & Wars at the current discount of -74%. I already owned UU 1+2. As with past delisted games, they'll remain in your game library after purchase.

Thanks to Auster for bringing this up!

@themazingness Sorry for the delay, but it's as clyde said, I got the info from the GOG forums. Lately, the GOG staff has been announcing game removals at least a few hours before it's done. It's a bit hard to spot due to the forum's layout, but these removal posts are always stickied/pinned posts until the game gets removed, so if any game's on countdown to be removed, you can just look for "sticky" with ctrl f or similar functions and you'll find their posts.

                                    First, a question:

Would it be interesting to list games made in the RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 engines, in case the Easy RPG core from Retroarch gets ported to RetroPie? Or would it be best not to, either because no emulator is available on RetroPie yet, or, like with MS-DOS, there are too many games to list?

Ghosts 'n Goblins, which is a DLC for the free app Capcom Arcade Stadium, comes with an arcade rom

Update about it: it seems Capcom locked the DLC files, so you can no longer build ROMs from it.

I'd endorse the latter, as I'm only interested in games that are directly supported by the current RetroPie. And systems like DOS or custom game engines would blow up the list unproportionally. Just my two cents.

Nice! I beat American McGee's Alice approx. 20 years ago, but I never played its sequel Madness Returns. That port makes me think if I should go hunting for the Windows version, too (or just ask the friend who I know to own a copy of it 😉 ).

And that's why we need the whole gaming preservation movement 🙁 (and offline backups of all your "cloud" data and "purchased" software.)

First, a heads up in case someone doesn't know yet:

At least on desktop browsers, the forum has an in-build search function where you can look in a thread for messages that include specific words.
To use this function, with the thread open make sure it's selected (just click on anywhere on the text of any message from the thread), then press Ctrl F (not sure if it's browser-specific), type/paste the word you want to look for and press enter.
And mind that the more words you type, the less accurate the search will be.

Also, to go to the next/previous result, click in the arrows in the top right of the screen:

                                            a39860da-6142-412e-a284-28cc6bb6731d-image.png

Just mind it gets partially covered if you are not at the very top of the thread:

                                            766f287f-f373-4547-ab2f-a41628bf7e2e-image.png

And if the message is too long or has too many words, you can also use your browser's text search function (if it's also Ctrl F, I recommend pressing it twice to make sure the browser's function is selected, and not the forum one).
But since the browser's text function only looks for the text in the message you're currently viewing and the ones right above and right below, you'll need to move between messages (e.g. with the arrows from the forum's search function I mentioned above) before you can look for more mentions with the browser's search function.

                                            #####################################################################################################

                                            Now, some games:

                                            Soul Force: https://protovision.itch.io/soul-force
                                            Platform: Commodore 64 & C64 Mini/Maxi
I don't own the game, but there are multiple mentions in the comments about running the game in an emulator, so very likely the download option "Soul Force (C64 binaries only)" includes the ROM.
