Need help with fixing friends Raspberry Pi
-
Okay so my friend has a retropie like me but the other day he had did something to his retroarch settings and now retroarch no longer appears while in game.
So I told him to uninstall and reinstall it and it made it appear for him again but not he can't adjust the settings, so I went into his file manager and I saw that his retroarch files were there but in the wrong place.
Now correct me when if I'm wrong but I'm sure that if you uninstall then reinstall retroarch it's supposed to install the same place again right?
Cause I'm a little stumped right now.

I bet it's just broken! Kidding, try installing a fresh image

@space-cadet Alright I'll tell him that. But just to
make sure under normal circumstances, if you uninstall then reinstall retroarch it should be fine and installed correctly right? If this happens again to him I just wanna be prepared. -
@RedBatman depends on how old his system was but yes generally they always install on the same place or at least they should.
-
@RedBatman I believe there was an update to the RetroArch file locations a while back, so it depends on what version he was at.
Might be worth doing a full RetroPie update as I think the install scripts would move the files, though I can't be sure.
-
@pjft Hmm I will ask him that since recently I had uninstalled then reinstalled Retroarch since I was having an issue and everything seemed alright and was functionig properly. I'll ask last time he updated it.
-
@RedBatman in the end you will need to move the files to the right place as the RetroArch version that's installed/installable now requires it, according to your description.
Good luck!
