      Dear all,

      I want to make a retropie gameboy. But unlike other mods with ABXY buttons, I just want to keep the original A & B buttons. Just wonder if the retropie could function well.

        @chip It's all hardware stuff, as long as you wire the buttons correctly you could play with bananas and it wouldn't impact retropie. You only need arrows, 2 buttons, and a start button to navigate throught retropie/emulationstation.

          As long as you stick to systems that use a directional pad and two buttons or less, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever. Fortunately you have a pretty big variety there with nes, sms, pcengine, gameboy/color, gamegear, ngpc and just about every atari option, as well as a pretty big selection of arcade titles.
