Certain themes suddenly started misaligning text selections in EmulationStation
-
Update ES from source.
-
@pjft Thanks
-
@RedBatman Not a bother. Just remember to exit ES before updating, just in case :)
-
@pjft Oh, should I update from ssh?
-
@RedBatman There have been situations where updating it from source from within ES has caused the update to fail after several hours for lack of memory, given that ES is in the background.
But it's up to you and your experience so far.
-
@pjft Okay so I wan't able to get the update from updating emulation station from source. Where do I go to download it?
-
@RedBatman that's the only way. What do you mean you weren't able to update from source?
You can exit EmulationStation via pressing f4 and then running RetroPie setup manually to update.
-
@pjft No I did that, I went to ssh and updated emulation station from source and then i rebooted and yet some themes such as workbench still have the issue. Which is why I asked did I update from the wrong area. Where should I go to get this fixed properly
-
@jdrassa Where is the fix exactly?
-
@RedBatman It is in the RetroPie repository. I just rechecked the workbench theme and it is working properly for me. You should have got if you updated from source.
-
@jdrassa I'm sorry but where is the Repository located? Do you mean retropie setup script? If so what do I update from there? A visual aid would be helpful. Like I said earlier I did update emulation station via source. Is there something else I'm supposed to update in setup script?
-
@RedBatman you should just have to update emulation station via the RetroPie-Setup script. You can check the version of ES in the main options menu. The version should be v2.3.2.
-
@jdrassa Okay tried it again this time it worked. Wonder what happened earlier?
-
@RedBatman no worries. Glad it is working.
-
@jdrassa Unfortunately the workbench font is still kinda off in the upper right corner.
-
@RedBatman I just double checked the workbench theme. That appears to be unrelated to the issue that was being discussed in this thread. It looks like the problem is that there are additional options in the help bar, that were not present previously, that are overlapping with other elements of the theme.
I would recommend reaching out to the theme creator about it.

@jdrassa Thanks

@mattrixk I fixed it.
Awesome, thanks mate. I haven't had as much time lately to spend on stuff as I'd like.

I just submitted the fix. Moral of the story is that fonts are weird.
Thanks @jdrassa , great that you got this fixed. Is there an up to date windows build as it really helps when working on the themes?
