      Is it possible to take all the files out of an existing RetroPie install and just put them over another install? I'm not talking about backing up the SD and putting the image onto another card though. Let me explain:

      I've been setting up my OfficePi lately, giving it all the new bells and whistles, making sure it's fully up to date, etc. It's working great and is nearly ready to become my Main setup.

      The next step was to set up Kodi. (My current main LoungePi setup is used for 95% Kodi to 5% games, so the Kodi step is an important one.)

      Unfortunately Kodi is giving me trouble. It drops settings (restores to default skin settings) when I reboot, it runs too slowly and many of the skin shortcuts don't work as they are supposed to.

      My old LoungePi setup has a dual-boot setup from multibootpi.com that works flawlessly, so I want to do that for my OfficePi setup. (I should have done that to begin with, but I only had a small SD card available and I was impatient to get started).

      Here is what I want to do:

      • Grab all the files from my current OfficePi setup.
      • Install a Dual-boot RetroPie/Kodi on another SD card.
      • Overwrite the Dual-boot RetroPie with the OfficePi RetroPie so they are identical.

      Can this be done? It seems like it would be as easy as just overwriting all the files, but I doubt it will be that simple.

      Questions:

      • Do I need to grab every single file? Or do I just need to get specific files?
      • Would there be any permissions issues? Some files I won't be able to copy or paste?
      • Any other issues that I haven't foreseen?

        @mattrixk

        This thread goes over most of what you're asking for.

        RetroPie v4.5 • RPi3 Model B • 5.1V 2.5A PSU • 16GB SanDisk microSD • 512GB External Drive

          Thanks @mediamogul. I did a search but either used the wrong terms or my eyes skipped over it. I'll give it a read.
