What does 1.6.0 No Core in RetroArch mean? And does this have anything to do with my sticks not working?

I have been trying to figure out retroarch and its relation to all of my controller issues. So in retroarch I can't do anything. It says no core and I can't do anything there. I am running the latest version of retropie.

      Is this normal?

      Thanks...

@ChristianG Looks like you launched RetroArch via RetroPie Menu. It launches RetroArch with no core.
A RetroArch core (sometimes called libretro core) is the piece of software responsible to emulate a system (NES, MegaDrive, MAME, etc.). Most of the emulators in RetroPie is in fact a RetroArch core.

I think it's completely unrelated with your sticks problem.

@meleu Thanks. Well when I am in a game and hit select X to get into the retroarch menu, nothing works as well. Everything just says no info if I go into configure etc.

            What am i missing?

did you do a fresh download and update all? I have been seeing a ton of posts about people having issues with retroarch if they have updated in the last few days. I have no idea, but it almost seems like something is wrong with the current retroarch version. I have not updated retroarch in about a month, so mine is still working.
