Delete controller config after perfect build for OOBE-type setup
-
Hey guys,
I've been a long-time reader here but this is one of my first posts. This is more of a request for advice than an issue. I've built 3 Retropies (one for myself and two for family) and was wondering if there's a way I can remove the controller configuration so that when they boot up the first time, they'll go through the controller setup process. My configuration is pretty close to perfect (for my needs and standards) with my PS3 Dualshock 3 controller, however, I'm advising they use their own controllers which include X-Box 360 controllers and probably some 8-bitdo SNES BT controllers. I want to remove my controller config, take a snapshot of my MicroSD card with Apple-Pi Baker, shrink the image with Pi-Shrink, then drop the shrunken image on a USB thumb drive so if they run into trouble, they can just start fresh with everything and just hook up their controllers again. This should alleviate a lot of support calls as I'm also the family IT guy. I'll have to figure out netplay once everyone's got theirs.
TL;DR?:
- How can I remove my controller config so the next startup asks to configure controllers?

Just thought I'd throw this out there and mark this as resolved. For anyone looking to do what I did which is fully configure your RetroPie, then remove your controller configuration for a clean backup solution (Where you can then restore and configure whatever controller you want as it came Out of the Box) all you have to do is this.
- Configure your Raspberry Pi fully (with RetroPie)
- Make sure all settings are exactly as you'd like with splash screen, themes, core configs, scrapes, roms
- Delete any save files for the cleanest backups
- Go to RetroPie > RetroPie Setup > Manage Configurations > EmulationStation > Clear input Configuration
- Exit to ES, press start on controller and Shutdown System
- Remove MicroSD card, and insert in computer
- Create your backup with your favorite backup software, then "Pi shrink" it
