[SOLVED] Can't start RetroPie on Linux Mint - permission denied
-
Hi,
I'm running on a Mint (Rebecca). I did a fresh installation of RetroPie.
When i try to start emulationstation, i'm having this issue :
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'boost::filesystem::filesystem_error'
what(): boost::filesystem::status: Permission denied: "/root/RetroPie/roms/amstradcpc"
AbortedAny suggestion ? Thnx

@crozen check the permissions of the folder in question. Make sure it's readable by the user you installed RetroPie under.
RetroPie-Setup configuration menu has an entry for resetting rom folder permissions.

RetroPie-Setup configuration
I did the resetting tool.
The problem is that the folder Retropie is installed in the root folder. Why it's not on home ? I have only the retropie-setup on home folder.The root is under SU.

@crozen you must have installed RetroPie under the root user, rather than sudoing from a normal user.
-
Well, i just hit basic install. Didn't do anything other than in the tutorial.

Doesn't the guide for Linux say to use Ubuntu?
-
@Ecks
It does. But mint is based on Ubuntu.
That's not the problem.
I want to know why the installation goes to the root folder, there is no way to choose directory ? -
@crozen it uses the home directory of the user sudo is ran from. You must have installed as the root user rather than sudo from a normal user.

I want to know why the installation goes to the root folder, there is no way to choose directory ?Just saying but if you are trying this out for a first time as well wouldn't it be better to use the actual source OS than used something that is based on it instead because someone could make for PC a full free version of a windows that would be based on Windows 10 but not everything will work as intended.
