      Both v1.1 and 1.3 with lr-mame2003 (1.6.0) have extremely low volume.
      I have to max out my tv volume (100!) to get right level.
      Also tried to increase DB thru RGUI audio settings but no success.

      Maybe something needs to be changed in source code ? ( @dankcushions ?).

      Whole PI (kernel and all installed cores) updated two days ago and using Pi3.

        @UDb23

        A lot of Midway arcade games from that time period have a low audio setting by default. Try pressing the 'F2' key and see if it presents an in-game audio slider.

            @udb23 @mediamogul

            Did this get resolved? I am not able to quit out after pressing f2 and adjusting volume. It freezes, and if I quit out, nothing is saved....

              @dirtypants Use lr-mame2010 or the 2003 midway core from retropie-extra.

                  I just came across this issue and I fixed it by doing exactly what mediamogul said. Thank you. Do not press escape to exit the menu, select "exit to game over". After the game booted up, I exited using "hotkey" + exit and the settings stuck.
