Apologies if this is a n00b thing. From everything I read it seemed that RetroPie 4.x and my RaspBerry Pi3 should be plug and play with a Logitech F310 controller. I plugged the controller in and - nothing. With other controllers (like the SNES clone I have), once I plugged it in it was immediately recognized and I was walked through the configuration. I was expecting the same thing to happen with the F310. Am I wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help!

@wolfgangrumpf check the back for the switch and switch it to... Dinput I think? Might be xinput.i forget. Anyways try both and see if that fixes it

@herb_fargus I did try both, no luck with either. But like I said, I just plugged it in an assumed it would be recognized. Do I need to add a retroarch configuration or anything like that? I thought that most controllers would just be seen and auto-configured....

@wolfgangrumpf it should be recognised but you still have to configure it through emulationstation first

Yup - it was a n00b thing then. :) I plugged it in and used my other (working) controller, went to emulation station, configure input, and then it was "as expected" (walking me through the which button does what setup). One interesting thing - every time I got to the right trigger it "skipped" for some reason, and I had to go in to the /opt/wherever/F310.cfg and manually enter the settings for the trigger. But now it works fine! Thanks for the help, herb_fargus! :)

@wolfgangrumpf in case you're curious about why the triggers skip:

@herb_fargus Thanks for the pointer - but it was actually the bottom right trigger, not one of the top ones - and I'm on the latest Retropie (4.x) so that issue shouldn't be happening anyway....like I said, no worries, I just added the trigger in manually and it's good to go. :) Love this thing - I've already built several more for friends! :)
