Retro Pie 4.2 and controlblock V1.x
-
I have just got back into an old project and done a fresh image of 4.2. I am using the manual installation of the control block service (as opposed to the automated on in the menu) so I can make sure I get the original ControlBlockService running.
The issue I am having is it has a bug where the power down command is delayed by 3 minutes.
I have seen this issue addressed on old posts and the answer is simply to use the latest Git version for the 1.x control block but i have done this and it still delays shutdown for 3mins.
Any idea what the issue could be? (should I be using CMAKE version 4.8 or 4.9?)

The ControlBlock Service for revision 1.X ControlBlocks needed to be updated. I have just done that, see https://github.com/petrockblog/ControlBlockService/commit/d7a6a57b11ca9b5044731bc31c5ed3e25d9813cc. Thanks for pointing me to that!
You can update your local repository of the driver with
git pull
from within theControlBlockService
directory.Hope that helps!

@petrockblog awesome thanks a bunch!!

@petrockblog another quick one - does the new reset button feature work for my setup and version etc?
**** Also forgive me for adding one more question in this post, but I only have SNES games, on the main menu it sort of repeats the SNES option from left to right as if you were scrolling through multiple systems. As I only have the one system can I disable this scrolling view and just have the single SNES menu item appearing centrally? Just looks a bit busy with the SNES logo viewable more than once across the screen
Cheers!

Not that I know. However, there is a lot going in in the development of EmulationStation in these days. I would like to ask you to post this EmulationStation specific question here. Maybe you get an idea there.

@petrockblog
I just updated to Retro Pie 4.2 and I'm using the Power Block and I'm having the same exact issue where the shutdown power command is delayed by 3 minutes. This was working perfectly before I updated to 4.2.I'm a noob when in comes to retro pie so I'm limited in trying to figure out what's wrong. However, I did notice that the shutdown script was not located where it should be in /etc/powerblockswitchoff.sh
I'm guessing this is the same problem as the original post, but I'm at a loss at how to fix it on my own. Please advise. Thanks!

@vman41 Sounds as if you need to update your driver. Please follow the installation instructions from https://blog.petrockblock.com/2017/06/30/tutorial-powerblock-raspbian/.
