What's the 'snr=1_7_7_230_12' part of the URL?
-
Cant say its a steam store search. It could mean search number or something similar.
-
Oh, it's not a referrer link then?
Cool!

Sorry but I find these kind of things very hypocritical. People who download illegal roms are using it for themselves, they don't make profit of it. Almost 100% of every one who plays these old roms get them from an illegal source. You can even download complete rom sets, some sites even offer ISO dumps from PS1 and PS2 games.
I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm not attacking you but my comment is targeted against those people who offer these "legal roms".
You can play most of those old games in a browser emulator, some sites offer them.

@PetroRie not sure I get your point? You have a problem with what?
-
@PetroRie you're wrong. There are plenty of people trying to sell illegal roms packaged in with RetroPie and a raspberry pi and a lot of people are dumb enough to buy them- so in a lot of ways it not only rips off the original creators of the games but it also rips off the RetroPie project.
I understand the argument of preservation in the cases that content is no longer available and the only way to get the content is through roms- many years from now it will be the "illegal roms" that will be the only software left as without the emulation community preserving them they would potentially be lost forever.
But as for the content listed above for those people that have a conscience and want to do things proper there are still some resources available to get legitimate games, and I for one commend Sega in taking the lead in making their content available

In my opinion many people are exaggerating about the copyright stuff. For an example you mention legal roms right? But you also say that they can be easily extracted. Isn't that illegal as you're duplicating and copying the file which has a copyright on it? That's my point.
To be honest with you I thing copyrights has many flaws. Lets say if you visit a website which has protected contents such as images. Once you open up that page in your browser, your browser is going to save everything from that page in a temporary folder located on your machine. So technically you have copyrighted content on your harddisk which is illegal.

That happens a lot. Some local stores here sell Raspberry Pi's complete with Kodi and the add-ons to watch movies (free streams). I even saw modding services selling harddisks with Wii and XBOX360 backups.
I'm getting tired of game companies re-releasing their old games instead they should create better games. I really gave up on modern gaming hence that's the reason why I play these old games.

@PetroRie When you mentioned about new games and not liking them it got me thinking. The old games were written in assembler and the programmers had to work down to the bare metal of the processor to get everything working. They were artest. With the newer consoles having so much power I think game programming today is more like using a word processor to write something. I'm not taking anything away from the new game programmers. They are creative and compose beautiful work but the retro games require you to use your imagination more (how else would moving a yellow circle with a wedge cut out in a maze entertain us for hours on end). This is just my opinion but I think many of you feel the same.
-
@glennlake I do feel the same. I also think that nowadays its quantity over quality. I think many game developers of nowadays focus more on graphics.
When I had my SNES I played Super Mario All Stars almost every single day for hours and it never got boring. I really enjoyed those games because they had a high replay value. My PS4 is collecting dust for months, I didn't enjoy it at all. I have GTA 5 but after a while it gets so boring online. Battlefield 4; same story. Battlefield Hardline; same story. Watchdogs is a huge disappointment, I gave up after two missions. I didn't even bother to get CoD.
Have you ever played Minecraft? If not then you really should give it a try with some of your buddies online. It might look very ugly but the gameplay and the things you can do in game is very fun especially the adventure mode.
-
@fairylady I don't think they have any games I play. I went to the site and there is no info about the games they let you rent. Can you access these games using retropie?

@glennlake you replied to a spammer.
