BIOS doesn't work?
-
So I'm still new to this but have tried basically every system and some experimental ones but can't seem to get a few to work including Segacd, Saturn, dreamcast and neo geo. I start the game, screen goes black and it kicks me back to the main screen. Best I can tell I need to add BIOs but I'm not sure what that means or where I place them. Any help would be great.

Don't bother with saturn. Pi is too slow. -
Most systems will need you to search and download its BIOS file(s) and then transfer them to the BIOS folder on your RetroPie. As for the NeoGeo, I usually put the zipped BIOS in the BIOS folder and copy the same BIOS to the NeoGeo roms folder ,too. Good luck!

@darksavior Okay so I got dreamcast to work I just need to set the controller, I can't seem to get neo geo to work for some reason and for the life of me I can't find the correct files for segacd.

https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Arcade go in the lr-fbalpha list to see the compatible roms that will work for Neo Geo because you could be trying roms that isn't working or that is clones.

@willreaper if you need a bios called say "1234.BIN" and you find a bios called say "system1234(us).bin" it will work. Just rename it and it will work. If the wiki says to use caps or lowercase even in the file extension you need to name it exactly how the wiki says. So if you need a bios called say "system.bin", naming it say "system.BIN" or say SYSTEM.bin wont work. Rename it correctly because linux is picky. Also if you have a cd game with say a bin and cue file, open up the cue file shows the bin file named properly. So many times the bin file will be named "game.bin" and inside the cue file it will say something like "game.BIN" which wont work on linux. Windows doesnt care so people who made them didnt bother to name it exactly correct. So just rename it correctly in the cue file.

Alright thanks for the help, so far I have everything working, except Saturn which is way to slow. Neo geo still wont work and at least some of them should I believe from that list.

@willreaper all neogeo games work. Get the right romset. more info on the links I posted. You can read the arcade/fba/mame wikis too

@willreaper neo geo has several possible emulators that they could work on. You might want to try as many as possible to find a working one. I recommend trying lr-fbalpha and lr-fbalpha2012
