TMNT Video Splashscreen

@pjft thanks however this wasn't much work. I did not create any of the video artwork, both the color version and black and white version are videos I have downloaded over the years from the wonderful internet. I have no clue where I got them from originally. I just did some editing to combine the two videos together.
-
@tmntturtlguy ah, I see. In that case, if you didn't go through the work, the original for new still feels somewhat nicer:
Whoever did the HD retracing made the turtles more stylized and somewhat less round.
I suppose it's a matter of personal taste. :)
-
@pjft I agree, however I cannot find a nice quality version available for download. The original is always the best! I am also thinking of just using the straight original without any tweaking as my splash screen, and also waiting for a moment of brilliance on a good idea for something a little more creative.
One thing I don't mind about the more sylized intro is that it does look different and therefore has a more custom look to it. Just my opinion though!
-
In case any of you ever wonder about my level of obsession with the turtles, here is just part of my collection and an authentic 4player Jamma turtles machine.
-
@tmntturtlguy As much as I like TMNT, Turtles in Time is better than the original arcade game.
-
@lilbud I agree with you, turtles in time is the best tmnt game ever made... Segas hyperstone Heist is number 2 in my opinion, but it is obvious they just copied turtles in time.
As for being a TMNT collector though, the original arcade machine is a must have.....it is just iconic on a different level than the gameplay itself. NECA a collectible figure company actually has an entire limited edition collectors series for the original arcade game, you can see them in the box in top of the display case next to the machine.

@tmntturtlguy said in TMNT Video Splashscreen:
Segas hyperstone Heist is number 2
Don't let @Rookervik hear you say that. He adores that game
-
Is that a Ecto One? Good choice:)
-
@pjft yes sir it is, the top shelf of the far cabinet is the full line of original release ghostbuster figures including the eco-one, slimer and staypuft! middle shelf is batman....i am basically still a kid stuck in the 80's!
-
@tmntturtlguy was there anything after the 80s?
The other day I was trying to find out why there had been no really decent transformers games during the 80s-early 90s, especially in the arcades. So much squandered potential...
-
@pjft I agree! Have you played transformers devastation? I have it for the PS4 and I actually think it is a really great game.
-
@lilbud @ruckage funny we had this conversation, here is an article just written this month, pay particular attention to games 1-3! tmnt games ranked
-
@tmntturtlguy i was so happy that my godson got into ninja turtles. He would watch the old and the new ones with me. From the new nickelodeon series i bought him about 50 of the action figures and some of the lego sets. He has a lot of turtles stuff. He even has one of the like 3-4ft michaelangelo figures. His room is even painted to match the ninja turtles. He took down all his posters though. He is all about stephen curry now.

@tmntturtlguy I'm disappointed there's no mention of the first ZX Spectrum TMNT game. I spent ages on it and finished it quite a few times. I think it's similar-ish to the NES version, though...
-
@pjft I have it on my pi! I had never heard of the zx version before you asked me to create the theme for it. I played the zx version for a few minutes and it appears to be almost exactly the same as the original nes game.
-
@tmntturtlguy i went through hell trying to find the c64 version of the original tmnt. Almost all of the tmnt roms for the c64 on the web are the tmnt ii/arcade style game. I dont have the zx spectrum roms but i might have to just for tmnt.

I'm so jealous of you TMNT arcade cabinet, I was a young teenager when that was released and I have really fond memories of playing it with my friends. And then when Turtles in Time came out , well that was just a classic (gotta love throwing foot soldiers at the screen :D) - it's a shame they've never managed to recapture what was great about those games.
We got a little bit stitched up regarding some silly censorship in the UK though - nothing that really affected anything, but for some reason all the old farts in the UK at that time didn't like the word ninja for some reason so they had to be called the 'Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles' instead. That was literally the only change - thought it was dumb as a kid and think it's even more dumb as an adult.
-
@tmntturtlguy Turtles in Time ranked #1
Also, Mutant Nightmare 3 should up there with the worst games. The only good thing about it is that you can unlock the arcade version of Turtles in Time after the 1st level.
-
@ruckage i have some "heroes" stuff as well....I always thought it was crazy. Did you know that Mikey's nunchucks were also a major issue, they were considered worse than sais and katanas! A little trivia for you, in the second movie, secret of the ooze you barely see the turtles weapons, and they rarely use them. To make the movie more marketable to other markets Michaelangelo uses sausages instead of nunchucks in the opening scenes.

@lilbud
I'm a little surprised none of the GBA games were in that list either - they were pretty good, particularly TMNT which was obviously inspired by the arcade game/turtles in time. Not as good as it's inspiration but still fun and has a cool art style.
