Another PSX multi disk games question
-
I've played many PSX games on Retropie, but today, I played my first multi-disk game. I realize there are ways you can combine roms, load roms without exiting the emulator, etc., but is this really necessary if I'm ok with returning to the EmulationStation menu? Once I complete the first disk, can I merely return to the EmulationStation menu and load the second disk? Will the second disk "find" the memory card associated with disk one and continue where I left off? Or is this not possible?
Thanks,
Jim

@jamesrives wont work completely right. If you dont use eboots (psx2psp is used to make your own) you have to rename the gamesave to match wich disc you are using. Psx eboots shrinks the game size and makes disc swapping easy you can also assign the disk eject/close ., disc prev and next can be assigned to your controller. And games like final fantasy vii dont save the game when you need to swap disc. On a real system i lost eight hours of progress when it doesnt save at the disc swap time because it couldnt real the second disc.

I would recommend converting your .bin files to .pbp.
Once done, follow the video tutorial on how to swap discs. You can then assign hotkeys (button combination with your assigned hotkey) to swap the disc without needing to open the retroarch menu every time for that game.
