Wii U Pro Controllers not recognized

So when I go into Bluetooth I am able to locate my smart scale but none of the bluetooth wii u pro controllers I have show up no matter how long or how many times I press sync. I would like to use a bluetooth controller so I don't need to use one of the USB ports for my 360 dongle. I have tried plugging the controller in as well as unplugged and no recognition whatsoever.
I have:
Raspberry Pi 3b
Retropie v 4.2
