Hi @dudleydes ! I have seen your support posts in the past, wondering if you can help.

I followed the directions in the DOCS, made sure I'm using the right *.wl6 files (Mine is 3D-Realms-Apogee) and dumped where they should go. Also am choosing the " wolf4sdl-3dr-v14" binary for both the default emulator and the ROM emulator as I followed here:
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Wolfenstein-3D

When I launch, it kicks me right back to my PORTS menu. Can you offer any suggestions what is causing the problem? I get no other obvious errors and the shareware binary runs just fine when I choose that. Thanks!

@rspeaker wolf3dsdl port has 4 different "emulators" to choose from when you go into the launch menu. Try each one until you find the one that works for your wolf 3d

@rspeaker did you dump all of your wolf 3d files in your wolf3d roms folder? I just took the entire installed games files and put them into the wolf3d and use wolf4sdl-gt-v14. I didnt just install certain files.

Hi! I only installed the .wl6 files as per the DOC says. But I'll try your idea. Will return feedback!

@rspeaker What are the contents of the log in /dev/shm/runcommand.log?

                        @dudleydes here is the dump:

                        *Parameters:
                        Executing: SDL1_VIDEODRIVER=dispmanx /opt/retropie/ports/wolf4sdl/bin/wolf4sdl-3dr-v14
Wolf4SDL was not compiled for these data files:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/wolf3d/vgahead.wl6 contains a wrong number of offsets (159 instead of 162)!

Please check whether you are using the right executable!
(For mod developers: perhaps you forgot to update NUMCHUNKS?)*

Could my .Wl6 file have a failed MD5 check? These are the full version files, Im sure of it.

UPDATE: Just ran the MD5 checks....Checksums are totally different to what the dump should be in the DOCS! Neither group of checksums match. What does that mean? My .Wl6 files are corrupt?? :((

@rspeaker It appears you have a version of Wolfenstein 3D that does not work in RetroPie.

The RetroPie scriptmodule builds binaries for v1.4 as they support the versions available commercially . The Wolf4sdl port does support full v1.1 Apogee but not full v1.2 Apogee. I believe you have one of these versions.

By editing the scriptmodule it is possible to build a binary for v1.1 but it's probably not an worthwhile exercise without knowing for certain which version you have. I suggest you get a copy of version 1.4.

Your game data should work fine in DOSBox.

@dudleydes yeah I understand. And I have determined I have corrupt .wl6 files. I have since corrected the issue and now not only does full Wolf3D run, but all 3 Spear of Destiny as well! I do know of DOSbox but I wanted to have them running on my PI.

Thanks for all the help! :))

@rspeaker dosbox runs great on the pi. Now as far as spear of destiny goes, on dosbox i have all 5 games running. I never tried to get the other 4 running on wolf4sdl. Spear of destiny games:

                              End of destiny
                              Ressurection
                              Return to danger
                              The ultimate challenge
