Hardware macbookpro dual boot to ubuntu:
      2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
      16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
GPU Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

      Sofware Dual boot ubuntu 16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso
      https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
      Retropie 4.2
      Installed using the following method

fresh install ubuntu, retropie was installed vis these steps:

      sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install -y git dialog
      git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/Retropie/RetroPie-Setup.git
      cd RetroPie-Setup
      sudo ./retropie_setup.sh
After script was launched a basic install was ran via GUI

After basic install the system was restarted.
basic roms for NES SNES MEGA-DRIVE etc. where put in the correct rom folder all ran smooth.

Then via experimental section gamecube was installed following
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/GameCube
no manually adding of BIOS was done it seems to run fine, not sure if i should add the BIOS somewhere? ADVICE on this would be appreciated, because it runs much smoother via dolphin on OSX with the same hardware.

But cant find a suitable guide for how to setup PS2
So far i have installed the basic package from the experimental binaries and transferred over a known working rom, the PS2 section is an option but the game wont run.
      However
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Playstation-2
states the bios should be added here:
      /home/pi/.config/PCSX2/bios/
not sure if this is right because
      A) its not a pi
      B) .config/ doesnt seem to be a viable folder.

So long story short could somebody please tell me what the correct method of setting up PS2 is, the bios im using is PCSX2 where do i put it?
After the BIOS is added are there any other additional steps?

I'm not expecting great performance this is just a trail run for when my new monster rig arrives at the end of this month. I have tried to be as detailed as possible as @BuZz suggested, but any further details can be provided if you guys ask.
      Eagerly awaiting your responses.
      Sincerely
      Tony

Did you ever find out your answer? I'm having the same issue here? Please let me know. If you found where to drop them.

Hey I found this in the old google after looking all weekend. It so worked, and I hope this works for you or anyone else that is having the same issue.

          https://launchpad.net/~gregory-hainaut/+archive/ubuntu/pcsx2.official.ppa

I ran this than I updated my pcsx2 emulator and the folder showed up, and my games worked. I still had to configure my controllers, and I can only seem to exit the game back into ES with hitting esc on my keyboard :-( but hey moving forward.....

It is optimized for windows, you'll get MUCH better performance running it under windows (unfortunately) and unless your PC has monster specs, you're going to need all the horsepower you can get, because PS2 emulation takes quite a bit. Well worth it though, most games run flawlessly under PCSX2

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

Yes, I can see that I have to run most of the games I try at low settings. Not so worried about that, and the Dreamcast and Saturn emulators still have a ton of issues. However, I still want to try. Wish I could figure the exit issues out...... Kinda figured that would be the easy one....
