3.5mm Volume
-
Please someone help me.
I made a portable retropie system that I need to use the 3.5 headphone jack for audio. The audio was very low through headphones so i purchased an amplifed 3.5mm speaker...But now the audio coming out is very high within retropie menu selection but soooo low during emulation play. I've tried adjusting the volume within emulators as well as on the rasberri pi setup menu. Nothing is helping.
Anyone know how I can fix this issue? Thanks -
hi Kmetz, please fill out the template from the sticky thread https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
we'll need more to go on, so please inclue the speaker make/model as well. it could be a simple mono/stereo issue, but there's no way to know without some basic info about your setup.

there is an audio mixer section somewhere in the raspberry pi menu, I found it but then couldnt adjust it with mine because the keyboard doesnt work,
but I know your problem well,
if emulation is low then root around all of the menus till you find it, then lower the volume in ES in the ES menu. -
@kmetz7547 As others have said, we need more details.
First, the jack is designed for line-level audio. That said, a few people have reported some success using headphones, but it largely depends on the type of headphones, the speakers they have, etc.. Going through some amplification is the right way to go. If the sound in Emulation Station is loud enough, or tests using APLAY at the command prompt work, the problem is with the emulator or the ROM. For example, in MAME, Mortal Kombat series, Midway games ROMs have the in-game volume turned way down. That's a ROM setting that can be adjusted using the game's Service Mode menu--it's not MAME's fault, nor RetroPie or the hardware. It's a game setting. Other emulators may have similar challenges.
