I am using a Raspberry PI3 model B and have RetroPie installed ( did all the updates up to this point ).
I know that you have to map your controls for the Mame4all emulator seperately by pressing tab on the keyboard.
However, inside the tab menu I can navigate fine using the keyboard, but as soon as I try to remap a button, nothing is recognized by the mame4all tab menue, no joystick button and no keyboard input at all.
Very frustrating as I am able to navigate with the keyboard and it wont let me map a keyboard button )-:
My target is of course to map the mame buttons and joystick to the xbox360 controler
      buttons and dpad.

If you are on a Pi3 I wouldn't use mame4all I think Its primarily left there for pizero and original pi1 owners. Try another arcade emulator core. But you could always change the .cfg for you controls

@nabz32x Any reason why you are using Mame4All on a pi3?

@nabz32x - this might be a silly question but you are pressing enter before pressing your required buttons? I mean, for example, you press down arrow to go to player 1 button 1 - press enter and then press the relevant button on the controller.....
