There is currently a bounty drive to encourage a developer(s) to create a 'dynarec' for the alternative 'lr-beetle-psx' playstation emulator.

      • What is lr-beetle-psx?
this is the libretro (retroarch) version of mednafen-psx - this is a currently developed psx emulator that allows for more graphical improvements (and perhaps compatibility) than retropie's default lr-pcsx_rearmed emulator. higher resolutions, texture 'warping' correction, jitter removal, and so on. example:

      • What is a 'dynarec'?
currently lr-beetle is just too CPU-demanding to run on a raspberry pi system. the reason lr-pcsx_rearmed runs so well is (amongst other things) it has an ARM 'dynarec' which is a fancy way of saying that it is optimized for the pi's type of CPU. more information. if lr-beetle-psx had one, it may become viable for RPI3 (or subsequent RPIs).

      • What is a 'bounty'?
libretro and some users have posted a reward for a developer(s) to do this work. this doesn't guarantee it will happen (it's many hours of complex work), but the larger the reward, the more likely a developer will be tempted! anyone can contribute to a bounty, but be warned that the money is paid upfront (although you can ask for a refund at a later date, if the work isn't completed)

anyway, here it is, if you're interested! or if you want to attempt the work!
