RetroPi startup error (video inside)
-
Team,
everything was fine, I installed and launched... downloaded several emulator/rom packages and they all worked.
last night before bed I stated a large download of 20+ GB, and this morning when I get up I have a infinite wall of text that will not stop scrolling, and if you simply let it run forever you end at
SSH: no process found
SCP: no process foundSo after it tries for an hour, it ends with the ssh and scp message over and over and over.
Internet is hooked up and working, powered the same as it has always bee... 2.5a 5v from a USB base recommended by the community.
any ideas? here is a link to the video.

I did not start this update process myself, it happened automatically after a restart. I also have a backup image I made prior to this update thing happeneing and it works fine.
Also this is a new "samsung evo select" 64GB memory card.

You won't find any help here with 3rd party images and piracy.

ok, thank you. I have corrected the post to adhere to your rules.
Can anyone help, has anyone ever seen this issue? It appears to be updating raspian...
-
@bionic You need to start with a fresh official image. It's also possible you have been hacked - I have seen this on some compromised installs. Don't use 3rd party images!
-
I will be glad to do that thank you. I have tried this (using a fresh 1st party install) I still end up with it trying to update a few days after install... any ideas?
-
@bionic The exact error ? I'm not convinced by that. However, make sure you change the default password if enabling SSH and check if your RPI is open to the internet.
The official image does NOT update on its own. So if something is triggering that on boot, you have been compromised.

Pi Model or other hardware: (B+)
Power Supply used: (Anker x6 USB hub providing 2.5A/5V with appropriate thick usb cables)
RetroPie Version Used (4.2):
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website)
USB Devices connected: microsoft xbox one controller
Controller used: microsoft xbox one controller
Error messages received: ssh and scp process not found
How to replicate the problem: install retropi, install NES emulator and a single rom... plays fine for a few days until you restart, then it tries to update on its own, and dows the above in the video.. -
@bionic see my previous reply.
