What games are you playing this week? 2017-08-21

TERRANIGMA!!
I made it to save Colombus, have my own sea ship and an aeroplane now!The game is really great with a good storyline. My SRAM savetime is 18h playtime now. In real I suggest I played it 40h and more...
Cheating? Well yes ... using the savestate features of retroarch
And I visited Liotto @meleu ...

Just got the English patch for Shonen jump ultimate stars and have been enjoying playing that, took me forever to patch it out of sheer stupidity. I looked for an hour for dspatcher.exe only to learn it came with the patch I downloaded.

Back in the days, i only stopped at the Super Nintendo before going PC all the way. So i'm kinda discovering all the portable consoles i missed :) Right now i'm having a blast with Mario Kart on Nintendo DS! So many games and Nintendo exclusives i missed that i want to try. I brought my Raspberry at work for breaks and slow days ...now i don't mind staying for extra hours :p

After "mastering" (getting all cheevos) Duck Tales (NES) I tried to get some Duck Tales 2 cheevos. It's a fun game, as the first one, but as I didn't played it on my childhood, it lacks the nostalgia touch...
And then I played my favorite car racing game: Micro Machines. First the Gameboy version and then the NES one. I noticed that the cars on the Gameboy version skid much more than on NES. I couldn't qualify that race with a tank (race 13)...
Yesterday I played Journey to Silius (NES) following a friend's suggestion. I played it in my childhood but at that time I found it too hard and gave up. I tried it yesterday and could reach the stage 4. A
cheattip for those who want to try this game: press the B button exactly 33 times and then start on the title screen and you'll see an options screen. You can change the number of continues from 0 to 9. ;-) I plan to beat this game soon. And today I tried The Lost Vikings (SNES). I think I'll stick with this game for this week. Cool puzzles, and the dialogs complements the fun.

A small joke for those who enjoy Game of Thrones and Achievements:
-
@meleu already did the GoT meme, get outta here
-
@lilbud my post wins in the freshness matter. It's about the last episode. The character in your meme died six years ago. B)
-
@meleu I have watched approximately 0 minutes of GoT and have absolutely no interest to.
-
@lilbud Therefore you get outta here with GoT memes! :)
-
@meleu Fine, I'll use memes from a show that I and no one else watched.

Well, spoiler alert :)
-
@pjft Oh come on, its Sean Frickin Bean, any character he plays is bound to be killed at some point.
-
@meleu On which system you played DuckTales 1&2?
It's available on NES and GB afaik ;)You should go in touch with Darkwing Duck on both systems next week ;)
Lost Vikings is also good but I prefer the Genesis version ;) -
@cyperghost Duck Tales 1 and 2 for NES (added this info to my previous post). I would like to play the Gameboy version, but it has just a few cheevos... The good thing is that a good cheevos developer (named Salsa) plans to add more cheevos in the future. Then I went to another great game and later I will surely try the Gameboy version.
About the achievements in the NES version, the most challenging one was to get the Bad Ending. I didn't even know it existed! You have to finish the game without getting any treasure and use the "life recharging trick" to spend the money you inevitably got from the relics (I didn't know about the life recharging trick either!). It's hard because sometimes a diamond just pops above Scrooge's head!

I'm restarting Final Fantasy after realizing that the save state from the emulator I was using on my 3DS won't work on my Raspberry Pi. I only spent a few hours on it, but I did manage to figure out quite a bit during my time on planes last week. "Where the heck do we go?" is very strong with that game.
-
Played Men In Black for windows 95 a ton with my cousin back in the day. Quite challenging (mostly because of the controls haha).
-
@hooperre Hard to tell from a single screenshot, but it looks like it uses pre-rendered backgrounds and polygonal characters just like the Resident Evil games. Is that how this game was done? Pretty sure I saw my dad playing this game on our old Pentium 233Mhz back in the day, but didn't pay much attention to it because I was all about PlayStation at the time lol.
-
I would love to get my copy of Castlevania Dracula X - Rhondo of Blood working in the TG16 emulator, but am finding it somewhat challenging. Does a guide exist for this perhaps?
-
@drake999 I'm also interested in this. If you find out how to run it, please share with us! :)
I checked the PC Engine section of RetroPie docs and I think I'm not missing anything... Looks like a ROM problem, but to be honest I didn't insisted that much.
-
@drake999 It was on PSX too :)
Edit: And yes on the Win 95 one. Made it very pretty at the time. PSX one is significantly less pretty.
