@retrofreak89 you add the pk3 files the exact same as .wad files. In the emulators.cfg file you add -file /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/NameOfFile.pk3 just the same as wads

Got curious and tried to make this work as well but without luck. If you succeed please explain to me how you did it. Thanks

                  EDIT:
                  here's the correct link:

                  GZDoom works

Edit 2: performance is meh. I just successfully compile a modded Zandronum and (maybe) Doomseeker. Standby

Zandronum AND Doomseeker both work on the Raspberry Pi3!!!!!!!!! (with the caveat that Zandronum is a modded version?). I can't connect to the x86 servers because they are running a different version of Zandronum, but hosting Raspi/Arm specific servers should work fine. (Zandronum will compile on other arm devices. I'm going to try it on an Odroid C2 after I backup my current build).

                    French dude's Arm Zandronum instructions:
                    http://framboisepi.fr/installation-du-moteur-de-jeu-doom-zandronum/
(archive so it doesn't get lost: https://archive.fo/BtPYx)
                    https://bitbucket.org/ptitSeb/zandronum

                    Compiling Doomseeker:
                    https://wiki.zandronum.com/Compiling_Doomseeker_on_Linux#Download_the_Source
(I compiled the current release, not developmental)

Other notes, I couldn't get GZdoom to run from command line, same with Zandronum using the GL renderer. Software renderer in Zandronum will run from the command line, so a RetroPie script should be simple.

@jcook84 damn im like a super noob at this i really want to get this to run maybe you can give me steps so Its easier for me to understand what to do??

                      Edit:
The reason i want to do it is because some mods like Valiant run rly crappy on zdoom..
I think it requires diff source port
I had no luck trying to configure it
Maybe u know some trucks to get zdoom to run better? Im already using lowest resolution lol
                      Stock pi settings BTW
Does zando port run better than zdoom?
Would love to know how u did it heb
Does it use mods/levels as well?

I just played Valiant on Zdoom. It worked well, so it's probably just some settings that need tweaked. That would be much simpler than trying to compile GZDoom or Zandronum.

@jcook84 he doesnt have an issue in valiant until later in the first level close to the end of the level. i cannot completely confirm or deny if i can replicate his lag issue. i had a moment where it dropped to 12fps but only for a few seconds since my rockets blew everyone the heck on up. i need to see if i have a save file from earlier to retest after i try finishing the level to see if i have issues later on in the level.

Using the latest release of Valiant? I ran through the the first few levels without any remarkable performance issues. (as an unrelated aside, it seg faulted Prboom for me after the test tubes open in level 1-1)

@jcook84 when was the latest release? Are you playing on default difficulty? I didnt have an issue yet except for 12fps for like 3 seconds si i have to finish the level and retest. Playing less than the default difficulty im sure you wont ever have an issue as its an issue with how many people spawn. I still need to test further for him but this weekend is busy for me.

@retrofreak89 yeah the two cannon guys starting at 7 minutes wasnt an issue. What difficulty are you on? Default was in the middle somewhere. I chose the difficulty it was selected on when you start a new game.
