Support for 32X CD games?
-
Hi,
I did a search on the forum and the documents and couldn't find a definitive answer to this question.
Is it possible in RetroPie (on an RPi3) to play 32X CD games (Megadrive + 32X + Mega CD)? If so, where do I need to put the files?
I've been playing Night Trap 25th Anniversary on the PC, and I'd quite like to be able to play the 32X versions of Night Trap and Corse Killer on my Pi, if I can.
Si

@simonster Really weird you posted this. I have just been setting up Sega CD today. Bit of a pain tbh. The 32X games I just put in with the Megadrive games. Just marked them as 32X. They have a .32X file extension and run well using lr-picodrive. And no BIOS is required. It can be set as its' own system but I personally did not see the point. They are very few games and very few decent games for it. It was a huge mistake by SEGA.
SegaCD took a bit more tinkering with various BIOS files, sorting .cue files etc but I got a few games running on lr-picodrive eventually. I set this up as it's own system.

Where do you put the cue/bin files? In the segacd folder or the 32x folder? Is there anything that has to be changed in the game options to make PicoDrive use the 32x for the cd games, or does it just work?

@simonster i put them in both. Im not sure if the 32x folder is setup to see cue files by default or not. And no option changes needed

@simonster .bin & .cue both go into the SegaCD ROM folder. Only the .cue will show in the gameslist and most (not all) games have a single .cue file. I think the biggest issue you will have is finding the needed BIOS files. Take the time to read what they need to be named, remember Linux is case sensitive and make sure the .cue file references the exact name of the .bin file, again case sensitive. Be sure to run a checksum on any BIOS you try to use, the correct ones are listed on the SegaCD Wiki page.

I already have all the required BIOS files. I just wasn't aware of the 32x-CD bring implemented yet as I couldn't find any definitive information.
