I downloaded the entire mame 2003 reference set, and put the metal slug games onto my raspberry pi, but when i try to launch them, i just return to the game selection screen. I do open it with the 2003 emulator, tried it with the other ones aswell but that obviously didnt work either. also yes, i do have the neogeo bios files. any help would be much appreciated

@janik1501 A very common repeated post on here, answer is either wrong romset, wrong bios, incorrect location of bios, incorrect location of rom or wrong emulator choice.

With the correct set, emulator and bios, they all work out of the box.

tried it with the other ones aswell

Why? It is an exact science.

Be sure to use the correct neogeo.zip file. And where did you place this file? While most BIOS files go into the /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ directory, the neogeo.zip goes into the same directory as the roms. Also, would check via runcommand menu that the default emulator is correct for the rom.

          Good luck!
