Various "Build From Source" Packages Failing on Raspbian Stretch
-
Hello all,
EDIT: I am now using RetroPie 4.3 for testing these packages
I am using RetroPie 4.2.18 on Raspberry Pi 3B. Since my upgrade to Raspbian Stretch, I have seen several "build from source" packages failing to build properly. I just thought I would place them all here for now to avoid making many separate threads on the subject.
Commander Genius (Commander Keen Port)
EDIT: Resolved as of 9/24/2017
Note: This also failed under JessieError:
Could not successfully install Commander Genius - Modern Interpreter for the Commander Keen Games (Vorticon and Galaxy Games) /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/cgenius/vfsroot/games not found
Log: https://pastebin.com/FzDkgbr8
Alephone (Marathon Port)
Error:
Could not successfully build alephone - AlephOne - Marathon Engine /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/alephone/Source_Files/alephone not found
Log (4.2.18): https://pastebin.com/Y3h68ifQ
Log(4.3): https://pastebin.com/xZLYu6Ne
Zdoom (Doom Port):Error:
Could not successfully build zdoom - ZDoom - Enhanced port of the official DOOM source /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/zdoom/release/zdoom not found
Log (4.2.18): https://pastebin.com/EHumCxRD
Log (4.3): https://pastebin.com/aT4nieyzXM7 (Fujitsu FM7 Emulator)
EDIT: Resolved as of 9/24/2017
Note: This also failed under JessieIt doesn't give the error during installation, but I can tell by glancing over the install log that something failed to build properly. As a result, one of the necessary directories is not created properly, and the emulator crashes upon trying to load any game and throws this in runcommand.log
Parameters: Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/xm7/bin/xm7 "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fm7/Galaga (1985)(Dempa)(JP).t77" /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1005: /opt/retropie/emulators/xm7/bin/xm7: No such file or directory
Install log: https://pastebin.com/yH0Jin4k
I hope that, if nothing else, this at least alerts the people maintaining these packages that something is broken.

@nowarrivinghere There is a thread here about it. Things have changed and it is not recommend to upgrade at this time.

Just an update for anyone following this thread. As of now Commander Genius and XM7 have been updated and the installation errors have been fixed. Big thanks to Buzz on XM7, as I understand it was a very broken package that needed substantial fixes.

As mentioned above the Commander Genius issues has been resolved. However, I cannot seem to find a way to actually install it.
Thanks for any assistance.

CGenius is installable from the experimental packages.
