Retropie 4.2 - Video Marquee Crashing
-
Hello,
I am running Retropie 4.2 inside of Berryboot.
When I go through the emulators, it begins to play the video marquees, as I scroll through the roms, it gets slower and slower and eventually the marquees turn white start skipping etc.
Sometimes it even gets to the point that the os just dies.
Any ideas?

Turn on OMX player in the other settings menu.
Alternatively - and/or in addition - use something like Handbrake to re-encode your videos to a more manageable resolution, no greater than 480x360@30fps.
-
That worked - thank you.
As stated in another document, it says that it cant have anything overlaying the video.
So right now the videos are perfect but they go over the boxart etc.
-
@y0da correct. The alternative is to re-encode the videos to a lower resolution and use the default player.
-
@pjft Ok - that stinks. Ok will decide what i am going to do.
For all others that have this issue, this worked (for the most part - screws up overlays). YOu have to go to terminal and edit the es_settings.cfg file and change <bool name="VideoOmxPlayer" value="false" /> to true.
Thanks again.

@y0da oh. You should also be able to find the option inside the "other settings" menu, isn't that the case?
You can select a different theme that doesn't use overlays as predominantly. What theme are you using?
