AdvancedMAME controller configuration wiped by binary update
-
Issue: After updating all installed software, AdvancedMAME requires configuration again.
Pi Model: 3
Power Supply used: Official Pi 3 plug
RetroPie Version Used: RetroPie 4.3
Built From: Pre made SD Image, regularly updated. How to replicate the problem:
When I have AdvanceMAME configured as I like, with controllers working as expected, after preforming a full software update of all installed software (Binary) - reconfiguring controllers is required again. This usually means attaching a keyboard to access the MAME menu to configure all buttons again, along with configuring hot keys to allow for keyboard-less navigation.
Where possible, it would be a huge convenience to not have to do this after every update, which I like to do regularly, to ensure I always have the latest and best enhancements, bug-fixes and improvements.
Thank you.

@vretro This is unfortunate. It sounds like the .rc file was overwritten, as that is where all input customization lives for AdvanceMAME. I have seen this happen once a couple years ago, but @BuZz made a correction such that the .rc files are preserved. I always have a backup of my precious .rc files. Which version of advancemame are you running?

Thanks @caver01. I was working with all 3 AdvanceMAME options available in RetroPie.
Maybe I should install all copies of AdvanceMAME and delete the /opt/retropie/configs/mame-advmame folder, and install AdvanceMAME 1.4 again and see if it continues to get over written after I've set some controls again.
There might be an old file system redirect hanging around.
