OK so I have the following items:

      • Original gutted Dragons Lair arcade cabinet to be restored.

      • RPI3 running the latest RetroPi (4.3) and Daphne. I have Dragon's Lair up and working just fine.

      • Dragon's Lair Scoreboard PCB w/ Daphne Support (the one with the Parallel Port).

      • A USB to Parallel cable.

There is an older thread similar to this, but I think they are referring to the original DL scoreboard that didn't have the parallel port on it... or I could just be reading it entirely wrong (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6312/updated-how-to-get-a-dragon-s-lair-usb-scoreboard-to-work-on-your-rpi3-tutorial-solved).

Basically the question is this... is this going to work? I have read a lot of articles claiming that this board is only going to work on a Parallel Port from an x86 computer, but these articles are also 10+ years old. Has anyone else done what I'm attempting to do?

@wirikidor I hope someone else has tried and succeeded. I have not. As a last resort you could dig around to see if Matt Ownby, has written anything about the scoreboard on his blog. I'd hate to bug Matt unless it is absolutely the last resort, but if anyone has tried to do this with a Pi, I expect he has. I just don't think he's interested in fielding a bunch of questions about getting his emulator to work correctly on the Pi. In fact, he has even stated as much (while also admitting that he did get Daphne running on the Pi long before most of us figured it out). I have not heard anyone exploring the scoreboard functionality however.
