Lets say i use a powered usb hub thats 3.0

And my USB HDD is 3.0

Would i get the benefits of using that 3.0 hard drive on a usb 3.0 hub thats connected to the Pi???? or would it still only read/write at the 2.0 speeds

@red2blue the pi doesnt have usb 3.0 so you get no benefit there. However a self powered usb 3.0 hub can provide better voltage to each usb port.

@edmaul69 hmm i see.. i found a really good 2.0 one tho, "Plugable USB 2.0 7-Port High Speed Hub with 15W Power Adapter"

would that still be okay if i just use a 2.0 one?

@red2blue i use a 13 port usb 2.0 with a 2.5 amp power supply running 11 devices on my pi, so 7 ports with 3 amps is as good as you get, as long as the power supply saying 3 amps isnt a lying pile of junk.
