Wii u pro controller buttons not responding
-
working with:
Raspberry pi 3
retropie 4.3.3
wii u pro controller (official Nintendo)
Northpada 5V 3 amp ac adapter
generic HDMI cableAfter enabling SSH, connecting to wifi, performing "Basic Install" (in RetroPie Setup), and performing "Update RetroPie-Setup script" I went to Bluetooth to "Register and Connect to Bleutooth Device". My controller paired easily (and the blue indicator light was on as well), but the buttons simply don't work at all. Then I went to the terminal and used the sudo bluetoothctl commands from https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Wii-U-Pro-Controller. Same result. I removed the controller performing "Remove Bluetooth Device", tried again, and had no success.
I had successfully paired multiple Wii U pro controllers to version 4.3.2 pretty recently. Not only official Nintendo, but also my PowerLead brand controller works with 4.3.2 that I have on my workshop pi 3. Is anyone else having this issue? Could this be a Raspbian or firmware problem? Any education/help would be greatly appreciated.

@spicevice1369 When you say
buttons simply don't work at all
does this mean that when you try to configure it in ES, pressing any button will not start the Input configuration dialog ?
Have you tried to see whatjstest
reports when you runjstest /dev/input/js0
and press any buttons on your controller ? -
@mitu 1) thank you for responding. 2) I typed in the commands and ran the test. Pressed every button, and all categories said "off" for each button. Not sure what to do next I rebooted. Ran the bluetooth again, configured wii u pro again, and the buttons seem to all work. Going to try adding roms next to make sure.
I have no clue why this just worked all of a sudden, but thanks for the education about the jesse test.
