Emulationstation on ubunutu 17.10 unresponsive on startup
-
I just setup ubuntu / retropie on an old computer I had sitting in my basement.
SO, emultationstation boots, and it says "hold button to configure game pad" and then it's unresponsive. The machine itself is fine, I can ssh and kill it. If the controller is plugged in the window says 1 game pad detected. But hitting f4 on the keyboard does nothing.
The logs dont say much of use. I enabled debugging and still not much extra.
Is there anything else I can do for debugging? I never had issues on my rpi3. But now I want more cpu power!
It's retropie 4.3 I believe. The latest from git. I setup everything earlier this week.

What version of Ubuntu? 64 or 32 bit?
I had a similar issue with Ubuntu 16.04 (32 bit version). Changed to a 64 bit version and it works fine now.

I am running 64bit, I'm not sure if it matters but I do have an older nvidia card with legacy drivers.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall retropie. I removed the binary drivers but nothing helped. :/
