Is it possible to use 2 Xbox One S bluetooth controllers in RetroPie 4.3? I read something saying both controllers would control player one.

Also does anyone know if you can just run the firmware upgrade from a Xbox One console, or is updating the firmware on a Windows 10 PC unavoidable?

Trying to find out in advance before I purchase the controllers.

I ended up using a friend's Windows 10 tablet to download the Xbox Accessories app and update the firmware on 2 controllers. I did not bother trying them before updating the controller firmware via PC.

I was also able to get 2 Xbox One S bluetooth controllers working together in RetroPie and various emulators. Unfortunately it seems the internal Bluetooth on the Pi 3 is weak and I may need to try a USB Bluetooth adapter. Sometimes the controllers stop responding for 10 seconds, other times it seemed like player 1 & 2 swapped places when loading a different game. The hot key would become active on the opposite controller. It did take about 20 minutes removing and re-pairing Bluetooth controllers before I got a good pairing on both controllers.

I do not have any issues with the controllers re-syncing with the Pi on startup. Hit the middle Xbox button, turn on the Pi, during boot the Xbox button goes solid, RetroPie detects no controller, but if you press a button on the controller it starts working. I also notice the Xbox One S controller eventually turns itself off after a minute or three of not being connected which is great.

I have the same experience when connecting two Xbox One S controllers via Bluetooth. One controller works fine, but using two only works sporadically. :-(

Has anyone succeeded to pair two Xbox One S bluetooth controllers. Each individually works, but both together don't work. Once the second tries to pair, the first stops pairing. Anyone tried with a second dongle? Or any other ideas?

I had no trouble to connect both x-Box one s controller via Bluetooth (pi 3b - disable ertm and updated retropie and the both controllers via my Xbox one). I conectet the first one and after it was done I connected the other one. But I have trouble to configure them in the retroarch GUI. Does the controllers work in retroarch gui for you?
