Hi my name is Chris, I'm fairly new to retropie, I have the basics down. This week I have been working on a SNES gamepad zero. I had everything just about done, but I wanted the new SNES theme for it. I tried to add it manually but had no luck. I went it and updated the OS to the new version so I can just add it normally but now I'm having the rebooting issue with the ZERO W that everyone seems to have. I have tried a few things I have found on here and on other sites and nothing has worked. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Without details, hard for anyone to advise.

I have been through the read me first page and it didn't help me. I searched the forum and found a few things but nothing that helped me out. If I download a fresh image of retropie off the site my pi zero w keeps rebooting to the rainbow screen over and over again. If I swap out the W for just a pi zero it boots up just fine. The same thing is happening to the image I have been working on all week. It was an older release of retropie but once I updated it it just reboots to the rainbow screen.

@carraudio By any chance you installed the ControlBlock driver before updating ?

No. I just went to update all installed packages. It also does the same thing with 4.3 straight off the website too. Both cards will boot just fine on a pi zero but when I put them in a pi zero w it just keeps looping back to the rainbow

@carraudio you said you have nothing connected when booting? I have some USB hubs/controllers that either backfeed or cause my pi not to boot for whatever reason. Once I unplugged them it booted fine.

Also you said you have a 3.1a charger? Do you have more details about that?

@herb_fargus correct there is nothing plugged into the usb port at all. I have removed everything to make sure it isn't causing the problem. it is a 3.1a usb charger with a cable that is about 3ft long
