Iver learned for some games like NEO GEO you hold start on the title screen to get into the game settings
F2 worked for some games (Midway I think)
Is there other buttons to test for game that start and F2 do nothing?

@valhalla_pi yes in MAME if you can hit TAB to bring up the GUI menu, you can sometimes set DIP switches for a given game. This is sometimes how the original game motherboard set certain features like Cocktail mode, or extra life thresholds. Every game is a little different.
