I am setting up a RetroPi for my father and would like to stick a few games on it to get him started.
I have downladed a few individual ones and placed them on there, Id say about 70% have worked, so I deleted the ones that didnt.

Is there a good SMALL set of ROMs out there to stick on it?
Everything seems to have hundreds of games, thats just too much and would be overwhelming for him.

@jtice As much as we want to help you, you are not allowed to ask where to get roms here, and we cant can't tell you where to get them.

@jtice So what's stopping you from transferring only a few? As far as the ones that aren't working, check https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Supported-Systems to know what romset version to get.

In my case I manually curated the games I wanted to have in my collection. Sure enough, I still have way too many, but that's certainly an alternative.

In general, anything that's prior to the N64/Dreamcast and that's not arcade will run without any problems. Sure, there's the off game that won't work in any of the available emulators (some PSX games come to mind) but in general that won't be an issue.

As for Arcade, it'll be a matter of getting the right ROMset and giving it a go. Most NeoGeo games work flawlessly in FBA. A large portion of Arcade games from the 0.78 romset work in lr-mame2003.

I'd really manually curate your set for the games your dad likes.

Yeah I second the idea that you can manually download and create a game set for your dad. I believe he just wants few to try out first? then it won't be too much and takes lots of time from you.

It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can do only a little. Do what you can.
