      Hello,

I have some roms playing on mame2003 and fba however the game "altered best" would only work with mame2014. I press "tab" to map my joystick buttons (Logitech gamepad F310) and the first two buttons are working fine but when I press a 3rd button to lets say "jump" or "special" then the screen goes "initializing" and I am stuck at some window to choose a game from a list. There is an option to exit but it just goes back to "initializing". I had to use the hotkey to exit out of the game entirely.

I don't know why this is happening but if anyone knows how to fix this then I would appreciate the help. I am currently installing mame2016 from retropie's experimental menu so maybe this is better?

      Thanks,

      EDIT:
Problem solved. Both lr-mame2014, lr-mame2016 have hard-coded keymaps. Like "L2" on P1 joystick is for the mame config menu even though I have it only mapped to "Kbd TAB". The other annoyance but preventable issue I was having with lr-mame2016 is the "UI Cancel" key. I had it mapped to "Kbd ESC" but I also mapped it to one of the buttons on the P1 joystick so that I could make changes in the mame config menu with a joystick instead of using a keyboard. If I accidentally press it while playing a game then it brings me into some kind of MAME gui that I cannot exit back to my game. It's kind of annoying because the key is suppose to be only a user interface function and not a game function. So leaving it mapped to only "Kbd ESC" and avoid pressing the button while playing a game would be a work around. For lr-mame2014, this is the not the case because "UI cancel" is fine but mapping P1 button 3 will cause this issue and therefore I am using lr-mame2016 instead.
