PC Engine CD games

Check the wiki https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/PC-Engine
Probably a problem with the cue file's contents not matching the filename. The pi is case-sensitive. No problems here with every cd game I've tried. I'm using the same bios. Re-transfer if that doesn't help.

@chewsavedlatin Check what @Darksavior said. Look at the cue file. The PCengine emulator reads the cue file to load the bin. I find a lot of images use all caps in the cue file for the bin file name. In windows, its no big deal, in linux, the name needs to match the case of the actual file name.
-
@lostless @Darksavior cheers for the input. I've re-checked the cue file. Even re copied and pasted the file name just in case. I've set up the cue file in the same way I would have for playstion games, as these run fine for me, is this correct?
If so I'm wondering if it's just an incompatible game. -
@chewsavedlatin No idea what you mean by setting up the cue file the same way for ps1 games. If you're manually editing the cue file to change anything but the filenames to match the bin then it's a user error. It would help knowing what game.
-
@darksavior playstation games also require cue files. I've used the same syntax for the cue files for pc engine as I would for a PlayStation game.
The game is Ys Book I & II, I'll post screen shots when I'm back at my computer.
-
@chewsavedlatin I tried the game and it works just fine. I got it from a popular rom site and made sure the bin name inside the cue matched the real bin name. It wasn't, so I changed that and only that. Please read the wiki link I posted, it explains these things.
-
@darksavior the cue file has the same name, I copied the name straight from the bin to ensure even the casing was correct.
-
@chewsavedlatin did you also name the “.bin” part correctly as well? What is the name of your bios? Caps and lowercase are important.
-
@chewsavedlatin have you tried other games to verify its not the game file? Otherwise you might have to try reinstalling the game to your pi.
-
@edmaul69 In the end I tried a different game, I hadn't tried others as I'm not a big PC engine fan just wanted to play that particular game, no problem.
So I acquired a copy of the game from a different source, and that's running no issues. Must of been a corrupt file or something.
Thanks for your input @Darksavior @lostless
