Small Error on startup - Please Help
-
Hi everyone, while my retropie seems to be working fine, I get this error every time on startup before it boots into emustation. Can anyone explain what exactly it means? It doesn't seem to effect anything, so I am wondering how I can remove or hide this error. I am no tecnical guru, as I mostly followed the directions found on youtube videos on how to setup retropie. I did two retropies and only one is giving this message. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

@blasterbrew That's a kernel message, not from RetroPie/Emulation station. Check this thread on the Raspbian forum and see if you have the serial port enabled.

Thank you for the reply. I looked at the thread you mentioned and, forgive me, I don't quite understand what is being discussed. It seems they do not provide a clear method to fix the issue. Do you happen to know an easy fix for this or can direct me to another threat that describes how to fix it? Thanks for the help.

@blasterbrew The thread references the
config.txt
file, which should be the boot config file. Open this file - it should be readable from Windows, if you insert the SD card in your PC - and check if the boot config file contains the entries related to the serial port (enable_uart=1
).
If you don't feel confortable doing this, then you can safely ignore this message, it's not affecting the RetroPie installation. -
Thanks for the feedback, I will look into it after work.

so I checked and "enable_uart=1" is present on the config file. I'm pretty much stuck right now, is there no way to hide or fix this error? Thanks for the help.

@blasterbrew Try deleting the
enable_uart=1
, save the config file and reboot again to check if the message still appears.
EDIT: make a backup of theconfig.txt
file on your pc, just in case. -
Thanks, will try once I leave work and will let you know :)
