I'm trying to configure a wireless joystick ( Havit hv-g89w). It has a wireless receiver with a USB and a PlayStation plug at the end. It cannot be connected through a cable and it does not use Bluetooth. Whenever I try to configure it none of the buttons work except the "start" button which when I hold the system recognizes as a keyboard input (it says "keyboard"). So far I've tried installing the PS3 and Xbox 360 controller deivers, without any luck. The joysitck works fine when connected to a PC, and I have already used other game pads with my retropie setup (raspberry pi 3). Thanks in advance.

please fill out the template in the sticky thread above to provide us with information about your setup. having basic info on your pi model, retropie version, and power supply etc. will help with troubleshooting.

have a look here in the wiki where it outlines using jstest to determine the button values.

also in this case, it would help to see the output of the command lsusb before and after you connect the wireless receiver.
