Drastic ROMs not appearing/not loading and unplayable
-
So I have like 15 ROMs I downloaded and placed in the folder nds like I usually do for the other emulators. I don’t use a different computer by the way, I do everything through the raspberry pie. I have the raspberry pi 3 and run lynx over it so I have to do the whole pkill lxsession thing to get Retropie running but it all works and I play Gameboy games fine but for nds it doesn’t read all the ROMs even though they end in .zip and if it does read them, it does not load them. When I click on them only a black screen shows for like 5 seconds like it tries then it goes back to the emulator page.
If anyone could help that would be great! -
@nzehn Extract the zip files and see they're running that way. Are there any messages logged in
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
when you run the game(s) ? -
I tend to extract ALL ROM archives, except those that are explicit such as MAME or FBA that MUST be in an archived format. Solves a LOT of issues, unless you're very short on space. I have a 1TB USB drive attached so don't really have a space issue though

@steptoe exactly what i do. @NZehn nds really need to be unzipped. Some of the zip files have folders and other files and might not work zipped. Also what games are you trying? Games that use the microphone like the legend of zelda the phantom hourglass wont work at all and will crash back to emulationstation. You could also need the bios’ mentioned here:

Run through the setup tutorial here
Then scroll to my post at the bottom for the correct syntax for /.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
I have a feeling that will resolve your issue
