Hello all looking for any help on getting retropie stuff to work on windows. Total regular noob here so be gentle.
Guides are everywhere for Pie but on PC its Confusing to me at least. I Dowloaded portable emulation station with retroarch on PC and have been setting up retrorama theme. theme installed ok and works. He (Phils Doodles)made Bezels for each console and i figured out how to apply them on retroarch. Retrorama has launching images for loading a game as well as a splashscreen intro for starting ES. Not sure how to get those to work. his theme supports video snaps and boxart so id like to add this by scraping using Steven Selph's Scraper. I dont know where to start though. it says it can be used on pc but i need go? to make .xml stuff not sure how to make/read scripts or where to put them im a total novice. seems all the guides on the net show how to run this stuff threw retropie with menus and scripts. also he has a 3d boxart image overlay for his theme but not sure where to put that.
      im on windows 7 64
trying to get this to work on my 2 tb hd
Thanks and a big thanks to everyone who has made youtube guides for beginners ive only gotten this far from your help plus the devs who make it all.
If this isnt the place to ask for help since im not using retropie on a rasberry i apologize.
Just wanna game oldschool so i can play with my kids.

@smellyviking Some good soul has put up a similar installer for Windows - https://github.com/Flerp/RetroCake. The topic here is at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15173/retropie-as-os-on-pc/2. You might want to start with his script and it will download Emulationstation and the necessary emulators, create ROM folders and the configuration file for Emulationstation.
For the splash images, I think they're RetroPie specific and they're not available on Windows. As far as scraping is concerned, try to follow the instructions in on the wiki page (https://github.com/sselph/scraper/wiki), scraping each ROM folder by launching the scraper for each system (ROM folder).

tried using retrocake but it wouldnt download ES or retroarch or make config files not sure why. I will prolly just redownload the portable version and look at getting the video snap scraper to work after that.

Figured out how to fake a splashscreen in portable emulation on pc. I opened the batch file in ES that sets it as home and open it.
              Changed it to:

              set HOME=%~dp0
              start "" "emulationstation.exe" --windowed --resolution 1920 1080
              start "" "C:\Program Files\MPC-HC\mpc-hc64.exe" "G:\Portable_Game_Station_1.5\load.mp4"

changed the resolution to fullscreen size but kept it windowed so my player can show over it. used MPH-HC set the options to fullscreen when it launchs a file. set it to be "always on top". also selected the player to exit after playing.
