PowerBlock soft shutdown problem
-
HI,
I just installed PowerBlock (PB) on RPI3 running Volumio.
Everything is working fine: power ON, power OFF, and soft restart. For hard reset I am using RUN port found on RPI3. I soldered 2 pins there for a momentary switch and the hard reset is working fine; PB led indicates properly the reset proccess. The only problem is when I do soft shutdown ( from Volumio GUI or terminal - shutdown -h now or poweroff). What happens is the RPI shutdowns and within few seconds PB cuts the power, and after second later PB restores the power back so RPI boots again. So basically, it is impossible to shutdown the system through soft shutdown.
My question is: is it possible to add something to, maybe, to the halt script, or somewhere else, something like setting the shutdown pin high so when soft shutdown is issued it would emulate the power off through PB? Or any other solution?
Let's say, I do not have to shutdown the system through soft shutdown, but if there is a solution to this problem that would be awesome. Thank you. -
@paulkosm I think this is just the nature of the powerblock. The problem would be that the latching switch would still be latched in the on position (which is why you get a restart) and there's no way to automatically unlatch it. It might be more annoying to have to unlatch then latch again to turn the system on after a soft shutdown.
Personally I just use the powerblock switch to shutdown every time and never use the menu shutdown option now.
